Elect Me to Serve You!

The Town and Village are naturally connected and serve different and unique roles.  I do not believe they should be combined into one entity. The Village represents the central, focal point of Waterford.  The downtown commerce and gathering destination.  The Town represents the more rural and free flowing boundaries of Waterford.  Both lifestyles are needed and should not compete.  Mutual respect between the entities will allow Waterford to grow and develop.  

My career involved plant management, general management, and global logistics of manufacturing companies. This involved managing and balancing multi-million dollar budgets (10M - 100M).  It involved P&L responsibility. This provided vast experience during rising growth periods and shrinking economic downturns. My guiding light was driving results with compassion.  In the end, budgets balanced, the company was protected, and people were treated right. Win-Win-Win

Everything is negotiable, except when it comes to values. Most things in life are not black & white, that is by God's design. Running manufacturing companies I have vast experience negotiating equipment, services, contracts, wages, employment, and most of all, people issues.  Never was I involved with a situation that did not have a suitable outcome.  If the time is taken to surface all facts where all parties can see those facts, people on many sides can find a compromise. When faced with time pressured negotiations, I slowed the pace.  Time is not a reason to give up your position or allow the compromise to become unbalanced.

The citizens of the Town and Village need to be, and feel, safe and protected.  The protection of fire. EMS, and police need to happen through local control and administration.  That is the essence of small town/village life. I want to see and experience those that serve in the community, be a part of the community.  

Absolutely and without a doubt. That is why a balanced budget and fiscal responsibility is paramount. Living on credit or betting on a higher tax base in the future is not the right way to manage. We cannot mismanage and then expect others to pay for our shortcomings. Appropriate property tax increases may be required as Town infrastructure ages. 

In my opinion, constituent input is fundamental to being a good elected official.  The people elected us, and can fire us, and are the ones we are accountable to.  Does this mean I will always vote the way a constituent wants me to?  No. There are times when my values or known facts cause me to vote differently.  This should and will be the exception. Whatever I do as a board member, I should be held accountable by the constituents.  I will say, I am not running for a popularity contest. I must do my job.
